In life, you are made to think you have a limitless amount of choices,
but in reality you only have two:
- You either follow your path.
- Or you don’t.
You either chase your dreams, take control of your reality & build a legacy. Or you don’t. You either live large, legendary & loud…
Or you don’t.
This became abundantly clear to me even as a teenager, watching everyone talk about their ‘dreams’ and ‘hopes’ maintained for ‘some day’ – yet what they were doing every day week in week out had no correlation, no chance of ever leading to those dreams.
You have to understand this!
This is not your ‘job’ or your ‘hobby’, this is game time. This is the fight of your life. This dictates the quality of your ENTIRE EXISTENCE.
You have to let it sink in on a deep level, and truly understand that the onlytwo options are:
- Shit and miserable
- Legendary and Fulfilling
Make no mistake my friend, this IS a choice.
Success doesn’t happen by accident. Forgo those thoughts of ‘luck’ or ‘chance’ – success is a process. It’s a process forged by the individual who applies himself daily towards achieving his goal. Success is not some mystical, impossible to achieve, concept. Success is not some dark art reserved for the ever elusive aristocracy. Success is very real, and very achievable. People have been becoming successful for as long as civilization has existed. From the teen who builds a million dollar App in his bedroom, to the young man who jumps on the oil boom in the 1950s and becomes a billionaire, the medieval peasant who rises up to become a Lord or King, the ancient cave man who fights to take over as tribe leader.
They all knew one thing.
You have to decide to do it.
The fact is, people have known how to become successful since the dawn of time. It’s been written about and documented by everyone from the Ancient Sumerians, to the Pharaohs, to Kings, Lords and now Corporate CEOs. There are countless libraries filled with tombs of knowledge that detail the entire process from start to finish. Even today, what does every billionaire magnate do after they’ve done it all & seen it all? They write a book about how they did it!
Chief, King, Pharoah, CEO, it’s the same thing. It’s been the same process since the dawn of time – we just apply different labels to the end result!
As M.J. Demarco says in the best selling book The Millionaire Fastlane;
– “Success is not an event.“
Simple, short & to the point. What he means by this is that most of society wrongly views success as ‘something that happens’.
Someone takes their company public for billions of dollars, Someone goes on TV and gets famous overnight, Someone gets signed by a record label or stars in a block buster movie.
What they don’t realise is the event itself isn’t what matters, it’s the process leading up to the event that creates success. The long hours learning to sing and attracting talent scouts, the years of playing backyard basketball and pick up games, the nights spent learning to code and write apps.
That is the process. And that is where success is forged.
Can it be done quickly? Absolutely, you can become a millionaire in 1 year, it’s been done plenty of times. But I can guarantee you won’t be sleeping more than 4 hours a night that year, you won’t be going to the bar or having BBQs with your friends, you won’t be going on dates with your girlfriend or partner, you won’t be visiting family or taking time off. You’ll be working 16 hours a day with little to no breaks. It takes commitment & dedication, that’s the cost you have to pay. You can choose to pay that cost through enormous dedication over 1 year or spread it out over 10, but if you want to be successful that’s what it takes.
Cut the excuses. Make a commitment to yourself, that you are not one of the chumps, that you are not one of the miserable masses, that you are not going to be a failure. You take it upon yourself to value your own life enough to put some damn effort into it – and you start your journey through the process.
Because if you don’t, there’s only one end result. You give up and join the masses, you get stuck in their futile rat race and you waste your existence on daily grind until death. Full of misery & regret.
I made my decision a long time ago, have you?
Ask yourself, what action are you taking towards your dreams? Do you constantly push yourself outside your comfort zone, are you willing to lose friends along the way, will you sacrifice nights out for the long term rewards of success.
People will think you’re insane, you will fail over and over, you will be criticized, and you will get back up and do it anyway.
Why? Because a life of misery is not a life worth living.
Never stop hustling, never stop making progress, never stop giving, helping others, putting yourself out there & being vulnerable. Go all out on that business venture. Take that educational program you can barely afford. Go workout in the rain. Climb the damn hill. Because the moment you close yourself off, you’ve failed to pass the test of the Universe.
I don’t know why it works this way, but history has proven a lot of shit needs to happen to a man, before he becomes a Man. (or a Girl a Woman for you PC Police)
Maybe some people are just born with it. The confidence, the ambition and the charisma – but not me. Definitely not me. And chances are, not you either. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, its to Fail harder than you Fall. Those who have failed the most, go on to win the most. They create. They inspire. And they succeed. Because they weren’t meant to get back up, but they looked up at the sky and said, fuck you and they got back up anyway.
Always keep getting up, always believe in yourself, invest in yourself, keep learning, keep hustling and always keep building your dreams. Because when it comes down to it you’re all you have, and if you don’t do it no one else is going to do it for you!
